January Favourites…

            January has been such a good month for me- my new year resolutions have lasted the whole of the month, I’ve felt so happy and it’s made me so excited for the rest of the year. Although I have been very productive this month I’ve really grasped the whole concept of self-care and stepping away from everything, hence why I have spent the majority of my time either in the bath or snuggled up in bed watching the new A Series of Unfortunate Events series on Netflix (which is amazing!). I’ve used and tried a lot of new things this month and discovered some things that I’ve absolutely loved, so I’m going to share some of my favourites…

  • Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge

I’ve never been too keen on makeup sponges, last year I tried a Beauty Blender but did not get on with it at all. I got the RT sponge as part of a gift set for Christmas and was determined to get on with it, hoping to find an alternative to the RT Expert Face Brush which I used every day. I now love using this for my foundation, the application is easy with the rounded side, precision tip and the flat edge that make your base as flawless as possible. The only downfall with the sponge is that I have no clue how to clean it, as I know it soaks up so much product so does need cleaning

  • Coconut Oil

I absolutely HATED anything coconut, the smell used to knock me sick, which is surprising considering coconut oil is one of my faves from this month. I read the many different uses of it on Pinterest, so I thought I’d try it considering it is so multi-purpose and has so many benefits. The smell no longer bothers me which I’m glad about as the product is AMAZING! I have used it as a moisturiser, cleanser, conditioner and for cooking, I don’t know what I’ve loved it more as, the whole multi-purpose aspect amazes me just as much as how good it is. The coconut oil I use is the ASDA Extra Virgin Coconut Oil.

  • Chia Seeds

I love chia seeds in my smoothie, they’re filled with antioxidants, potassium, protein and are generally really good for you. Recently, I’ve been adding a tablespoon of chia seeds to my porridge in the morning which is an effective way to make your breakfast that little bit healthier. I usually use The Chia Co. chia seeds however I recently found a cheaper alternative in ASDA which I’ll be using from now on.

  • Podcasts

I’d never listened to podcasts until I read about Emma Gannon’s blog ‘Ctrl Alt Delete’, it intrigued me and the prospect of listening to a podcast on a long walk seemed productive yet relaxing, so I thought I’d give it a listen. I was hooked from the first episode, which led me to listen to different podcasts such as ‘Get It on with Dawn O’Porter’, ‘Magic Lessons with Elizabeth Gilbert’ and ‘Desert Island Discs’ (which I can’t believe I hadn’t discovered until now, I recommend this to ANY music lover!).

  • Blogging

I couldn’t not include this, could I? I started blogging this month, which I had wanted to do for so long. I love the whole process of putting up a blog post- the writing of it, taking the pictures, editing the post etc… I’m really looking forward to putting up some more blog posts next month, February is a busy and exciting month for me so I plan to reflect that in some of my blogposts. This was how I wrote this blogpost- curled up in front of the fire with a face mask on typing away.

  • Brothers of Mine

Their debut single ‘The Answer’ is simply incredible. It is a catchy, rock and roll song which was also played at Anfield recently.
