Although I do like to try different makeup products, I do have a set of products that are my ‘go-to’ ones. I love to hear what people’s core makeup products are, so I thought that I would share mine. I’ve ordered the post by the order that I’d apply the products.
I am one of those people who cannot apply makeup without a primer, if I don’t my base won’t look right and my foundation probably wouldn’t last an hour. I have tried quite a few primers, but the ‘Max Factor Facefinity All Day Primer’ is my favourite. I love it as it completely mattifies my skin and prolongs the wear of my foundation, it also has an SPF 20.
I got colour matched at a No7 counter in Boots for this foundation which is the ‘Stay Perfect Foundation’- I love No7 products, although they’re at the higher end of drugstore makeup, I think the quality is amazing. Anyway, I got colour matched (my shade is Calico) and I used a few times but didn’t think much of it, I went back to using either Rimmel’s Wake Me Up or Bourjois’ Healthy Mix. But I went back to Stay Perfect recently and I love it- the shade complements my skin, it gives a natural complexion with a lightweight feel and has an SPF 15.
This was the first concealer I ever tried and has always remained my favourite- the ‘Rimmel Wake Me Up’ in Ivory. This is so illuminating under the eye yet can conceal blemishes really well, I love this concealer a lot.
This is a holy grail product for so many people including me, it’s the ‘Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder’ in Transparent. I’ve struggled to find a go-to powder but this one is amazing, it is mattifying and improves the coverage of my base. I have the Rita Ora ‘My Grey’ edition, which was on such a good offer in Superdrug!
- Contour and Bronzer
To contour I use the ‘L’Oreal Infallible Sculpt Contour Palette’ in Light/Medium, I don’t use the highlight shade but the contour shade is amazing. It is a cream to powder consistency which does create a sculpting shadow, which I love. To bronze I use the bronzing powder from the ‘Bourjois Delice De Poudre’ duo. The highlighter isn’t very pigmented, but if I’m going for a subtle look I do tend to use it.
- Blusher and Highlighter
The ‘Collection Gorgeous Glow Blush Block’ is SO GOOD, it’s such a hidden gem, some of the Collection products are amazing and this is one of them. I mentioned my subtle go-to highlighter but my ‘pop’ highlighter is the Makeup Revolution Highlighter in Golden Lights, which is better than any highend highlighter I’ve used. I had to use the picture I took of the highlighter when I bought it months ago, as it looks a mess now, oops.
Even if I’m having a no makeup day (which is most days for me) I will always wear eyebrow gel, otherwise I get crazy brows, but I have so many that I couldn’t name a specific one. If I’m filling them in, I use the Collection Eyebrow Kit in Blonde then the Benefit Gimme eyebrow gel in 01 Light.
On a normal makeup day, I will conceal/prime my eyelids with the Benefit boi-ing concealer in 01 light then set it with ‘White Chocolate’ from the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette. This palette is incredible, it’s the best makeup investment I’ve made, it also smells incredible! I will then apply ‘Milk Chocolate’ into the crease, although this does sound so basic it’s better than nothing and I love how it looks.
My eyelashes are awful, they are literally non-existent. I have to curl them then I use the Max Factor False Lash Effect mascara . This is a really nice mascara, I love how black and thickening the mascara is but I do feel like my eyelashes don’t do it justice at all.
I then set my face with the Makeup Revolution Setting Spray which is amazing. I am by no means an expert in makeup or what/how you should apply it, but I loved writing about my go-to products. In the future, I’d like to do a similar one about my go-to makeup brushes but I hope you enjoyed reading this one 🙂
