My Skincare Saviours-Winter 2017

Winter has taken its toll on my skin. I usually have really good skin, for most of the year I am blemish free with my only issue being a bit of an oily forehead however as soon as it gets round to Winter time my skin goes crazy. So far I’ve had the worst breakout ever on my forehead, really bad redness and just all round bad skin. I had a little google and apparently Winter can have a bad effect on your skin, La Roche-Posay wrote a really good article on it which you can read here. I thought I’d put a post together of the skincare products that have saved my skin so far this season…

Garnier Micellar Gel Face Wash For Sensitive Skin

I used to be really guilty for not washing my face enough, I used to rely on micellar water and makeup wipes, this is something that I can get away with during Summer but not so much in Winter. I have to thoroughly wash my face every morning and evening (which I probably should be doing anyway, I’m just lazy). This is always the first product that I reach for, it’s so good for making sure all of the dirt comes off your face and especially when you have stubborn makeup on that you need to get off. I LOVE this gel wash, a little goes a really long way and it leaves my skin feeling so clean.

Soap and Glory Peaches and Clean Deep Cleansing Milk

In the Winter I need to double or triple cleanse. I tend to use the gel wash mentioned above, a milk/cream cleanser and then micellar water. This is the milk/cream cleanser that I use and I absolutely love it. It smells like peaches, which is just a dream. This is not necessarily the best for removing makeup but for a final cleanse or to clean the face this is perfect. It feels really moisturising as well as cleansing which I think is because it is a cleansing milk.

No7 Youthful Replenishing Facial Oil and Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Multi-Usage Dry Oil

Up until Winter I tend to use facial oils on and off, I don’t necessarily need to use them. However, when I’m doing my evening skincare routine I can feel how dry and worn out my skin feels and using an oil is the only thing that restores the moisture in my skin. As you can see in the photo, my No7 oil is running extremely low so I switch between using that one and the Nuxe one however I do prefer the No7 one so will definitely need to rebuy it.

The Skin System Overnight Blemish Serum Tea Tree

This has been an absolute lifesaver for my breakout on my forehead. I use this product every single night before I fall asleep, I apply a big dollop on my spots and leave it in overnight. This makes my spots look a lot less angry when I wake up, it is really cooling on them which has been so good as they’ve been really sore. This also has tea tree in it so smells amazing as well as being so soothing.

L’oreal Pure Clay Purity Mask

I am a HUGE fan of these L’oreal masks, I featured two of them in my Favourite Face Masks post, at that point I hadn’t tried this one. During these months my oiliness gets 1000X worse. This mask is the best mask to use when my skin is really oily. It really does purify and mattify (is this even a word?) my skin, I especially love to use this before I put my makeup on, it gives the perfect base for makeup.

Sudocrem Skin Care Cream

If you have never used Sudocrem on your blemishes, you are missing out. Up until I started using the blemish serum this was the only thing I’d use on my spots. I still LOVE to smother my problematic areas with this, I feel like this works a lot faster than the blemish serum. Although that does make spots look less angrier, I feel like Sudocrem has an actual impact on them quicker, if you get what I mean? If I use this I feel like my spots don’t last as long.

Garnier Ultimate Blends Olive Body Lotion Dry Skin

I am absolutely rubbish at remembering to moisturise my body. Awful at it. I can get away with it in Summer but in Winter my eczema and dry skin on my body NEED to be moisturised. I picked this up based on the fact that it claims to be ‘Non-Greasy and Non-Sticky’ which is the two most important things for me. It really is both of those things, it also smells amazing and makes my body feel so smooth and silky! I can literally put my pjs straight on after applying this which I love!

Thank you so much for reading, I hope you enjoyed this post, I really like writing these more concise posts so I hope you enjoyed reading it!

  1. Great post, my skin breaks out a lot in winter too and I really L’Oreal’s clay masks, they are amazing!!! I particularly don’t like this mattifying one just because my skin is not that oily but I am happy that it did wonders do your skin.

  2. The Micellar Gel Wash is in my November Favourites because I have fallen in love with it this month.. 😍 I always use Sudocream for blemishes too, and my boyfriend even does the same now too! 😂🤷🏼‍♀️

  3. I’m always intrigued to see what other people use to look after their skin and their routine. I think I will try the soap and glory deep cleansing, milk – although I hope it won’t affect my skin.

  4. These are all really nice products. I didn’t even know they was a gel wash to the micellar water 😧 and I have to try that blemish serum and sudocrem for my annoying random breakouts…thanks for sharing 🙂
