My Top 5 Favourite Book To Screen Adaptations #AD

I am such a huge book worm which you’ll probably know if you’ve read my book related content. Controversially, I really like screen adaptations of books, whether it be into a film, TV series or series of films. Obviously there are faults in them in terms of missing out details from the books but I still really enjoy them. So, I’m going to share with you my top five favourites…

This post is in collaboration with Panasonic who continue to amaze technology lovers with their high definition televisions which have a sleek design and have a colour display featuring bright, beautiful colours. I highly recommend you check out Panasonic’s HDR TV, their products are innovative and are perfect to watch your favourite book to screen adaptations on. So, here are my top five favourites…

1. Harry Potter Series

I’m a huge Harry Potter fan. I adore the books so so much, I will never grow old of reading J.K. Rowling’s words, they hold so much magic and take me right back to being a child. I love the Harry Potter films just as much as I love the books, I never bore of sitting and watching every single one. I love to see the progression of the characters and the actors throughout the series, I feel like this adds to the magic of the whole story. There are obvious details that are left out which I feel like wouldn’t be left out if it was a series but nevertheless I will always love the series.

2. 13 Reasons Why

This may be a controversial one for some but I absolutely loved the book when I read it about 3/4 years ago. I was SO nervous to watch Season One last year but I was pleasantly surprised as I really enjoyed it. I think the characters are portrayed perfectly by their actors and the story is reflected brilliantly and is a bit more in depth in the series. I was so apprehensive about Season Two but I actually enjoyed it, the more detail and the more that the story progresses the more that I want! This definitely isn’t for everyone, especially if you suffer with mental health issues etc. but please have a look at the warnings before watching!!!

3. Bridget Jones’s Diary Series

Right come on gals, everyone LOVES the series of Bridget Jones!? If you didn’t know the films, featuring the hilarious Renée Zellweger, are based upon the books by Helen Fielding (equally as hilarious). I adored the books, they are so funny and make me genuinely laugh out loud. The series of films are even funnier, the cast are brilliant and make the films even better. The highlight has to be Ed Sheeran’s feature in Bridget Jones’s Baby!

4. Matilda

Roald Dahl will always be one of my favourite authors, he has influenced my views on literature and keeps the magic alive with every word. Matilda is my joint favourite with The BFG but I think what gives it the edge is the movie. Matilda is my absolute favourite movie from my childhood and I still adore it now. There’s just something so special but it, the cast, the music, the storyline- just everything! This is definitely my favourite from the list!

5. Wonder

This is the most recent adaptation from the list but is still one that I adore. I read Wonder years ago and have reread it lots since and bought it for others. I included it in my ‘Books That Changed Me’ as it had such a profound effect on me and continues to do so, it teaches such amazing lessons and is a really special story. I was obviously apprehensive for the movie as I love the book but I loved it! Auggie was portrayed brilliantly, the story was true to the book and I loved Owen Wilson being in it! This is definitely one to watch if you enjoyed the book as much as I did!

  1. I LOVE Matilda both the film and the book. Big fan of Roald Dahl. Also loved the Harry Potter series. Yes they missed some details of the books out but they were pretty true to the books and J. K. Rowling was happy with them so that’s good enough for me!
