I’ve just reread last year’s October Favourites and I can’t believe a year has already passed since then! I’ve not done a monthly favourites since February I think, they’re some of my favourite posts to read and write so I’m so excited to be getting this post out! Let’s get into it…
Returning to Blogging
I had an unintentional break from blogging which spanned a fair few months. I’m now back and feeling better than ever about what I’m putting out for you all, my inspiration and motivation is sky high and I can’t wait to share all my ideas with you all! My ‘I’m Back’ post was a really hefty one, it was so difficult to write and took a lot of guts to share the whirlwind which was those few months. You can read the post here, the response was amazing, it was so overwhelming to feel so much love and support that I feared I’d lost. Thank you, I’m so glad to be back.
Going To The Doctors About My Skin
I’ve struggled with my skin for months, I’ve had harsh spots on my forehead that have been bleeding, painful and have really knocked my confidence. I’ve tried every trick in the book but nothing had worked so I was at my wits end when someone recommended going to my GP. I was a nervous wreck sat in that waiting room but the doctor was so lovely, she listened to everything that I had to say and made me feel at ease.
She said it was acne, which was a bit of a shock but was a relief as I knew it could be treated. She prescribed me with Duac (an antibiotic cream) which I’m trialling for six weeks to see if it makes a difference, the next step would be steroids which I’m hoping to avoid at all costs.
You’ll know all this if you follow me on Instagram (I’m here) as I’ve spoken openly about it on my grid. I’ve seen a rollercoaster of results the past two weeks but the overall results have been positive and I feel like my skin is finally clearing up and I’m getting my confidence back. Any skin updates will be on my Instagram but I will do an overall blog post on my skin when I’m over the hill.
A Star Is Born
I’ve been to see A Star Is Born twice, I’d go to see it a hundred times and still feel the emotions as if I’ve watched it for the first time. The first time I watched it I was blown away, I was in shock at the rawness of the acting and of the beauty of the music. I didn’t know how to react. The second time I watched it, I cried at that final scene, I get goosebumps thinking about it. I think this film is just extraordinary, I just want to belt Shallows at the top of my lungs thinking about it. Even if you’re a sceptic about musicals just go and see it, give it a chance, you really won’t regret it.
This is my favourite film that I’ve been to see this year and we’ve been to see an awful lot. I was genuinely speechless at the end of Bohemian Rhapsody, it was a masterpiece, a work of art. Rami Malek is so genuine as Freddie, he embodies him, he brings his magic. This is a brilliant celebration of Queen, of their music, their relationship as bandmates and rockstars, the ups and downs of the lifestyle and their long lasting legacy. The end scene portraying the band’s iconic performance at Live Aid is legendary, it’s pure goosebumps, hair stands on end material. I will definitely be going to see this again (and again and again!), I can’t wait to relieve it’s magic already.
Shane Dawson’s Jake Paul Series
I am a huge fan of Shane Dawson. I think his documentary series are so professional, well executed and worthy of a place on Netflix. I obviously adored his Jeffree series he created few months ago but his 8 part series ‘The Mind Of Jake Paul’ was on another level. Although it received it’s fair amount of controversy and backlash, I thought it was incredible, every episode was gripping and uncovered another piece of the puzzle that is the mind of Jake Paul. I didn’t take the whole ‘sociopath’ thing that seriously, I knew he wasn’t branding him as one or anyone else. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole series, it was a great success (look at those views!) and I look forward to see what’s next from Shane…
I mean, you would have had to have been living under a rock to have not heard about the Internet cleaning phenomenon that is Mrs Hinch. I’m not a home owner, nor am I a huge fan of cleaning but the first story that I watched on Mrs Hinch’s Instagram made me march myself to my nearest Home Bargains and buy a basket of cleaning products. Mrs Hinch has made everyone cleaning mad, literally mad with all her funny nicknames for products haha! I can’t stop watching her infectiously funny stories and cleaning my room- I’ve been hinched!
Jeffree Star x Beauty Bay Can’t Relate Tour
Earlier in October I dragged my boyfriend to the Jeffree Star x Beauty Bay Can’t Relate Tour in Manchester. It was such an amazing event, Jeffree spilled all of the tea and was as iconic as ever. I did a full blog post on the event which you can read here, so I won’t go into too much detail about the experience on a whole but it was just brilliant. I also treated myself to quite a spur of the moment purchase which is my final favourite below…
Jeffree Star Cosmetics Blood Sugar Palette
This is the most expensive palette that I own and was a complete impulse purchase which I decided to make whilst in the queue at the merchandise stall haha! I also have a full post sharing my first impressions on this palette here so go over there to get my full thoughts and opinions. Spoiler: I adore this palette, it’s so pigmented, the shade range is stunning and that packaging is to die for. This palette has made me want to buy all of Jeffree’s palettes if they’re all this quality, especially the upcoming Alien palette.
Thank you so much for reading, I hope you enjoyed this post, I’m so happy to be back into uploading regularly so I hope you are too!
